In collaboration with Baldivis War Memorial: Friends and Supporters Group and the amazing Abbott family, I am so happy to deliver one of my key election promises - the new Baldivis War Memorial.

This story started in 2018 when I got an email from Tranby College student Jess Abbott who asked me to help her establish a memorial in Baldivis.

Jess comes from a family of proud military service with mum and dad Janette and Lyndon and brother Peter all serving. A supporters group was formed and a long journey began - to establish the location and work through local planning requirements.

I was able to commit funding at the last election and generous companies also made contributions to bring it to reality.

The memorial is dedicated to peace and will be a place of quiet reflection to remember and acknowledge the sacrifice and contribution of all service men and women from all services, veterans, those serving today and their families.

Importantly, the memorial also remembers a local Baldivis boy - Arthur Peter Knight - who gave his life in the battle for Australia in the Pacific during the second world war.

It’s a poignant story of a kid like any other local youngster who came here with his parents from the UK and joined the navy to protect his new home.

The memorial is located next to the Steel Tree Cafe on Clyde Avenue. I urge you to wander by and read the panels. Take your children to see it too.

A huge thank you to Jess and everyone who helped make this special memorial wall a reality.
