Hi I'm Reece

In March 2017, I was initially elected as a Member of the WA Parliament to serve the people of the electorate of Baldivis. The electorate includes the suburbs of Baldivis South, Warnbro, and parts of Waikiki and Cooloongup.

In 2021, I was serving as the Minister for Environment and Climate Action. In 2023, Energy was added to my ministerial portfolios.

Then in 2025, I was appointed Minister for Police; Road Safety; Tourism and the Great Southern.

I grew up on the outskirts of Perth, working from a young age in my parents’ family business - giving me first-hand experience of the challenges small business owners face. My experience growing up in an outer suburb gave me an insight into the importance of quality transport, schools, hospitals, and community and sporting facilities.

Motivated by a deep interest in community affairs, I pursued a career in journalism. Beginning as a cadet reporter at a country newspaper, I later joined the ABC, followed by a tenure at Nine News, and a fulfilling 20-year journey at Seven News.

I often reported on battlers standing up for a fair go, which encouraged my interest in the potential for the political system to help create better, fairer communities. I am passionate about the role education plays in creating opportunities for young people, and ensuring the State’s economy continues to grow and diversify to provide good jobs and prospects for all Western Australians.

I am happily married to Natalie, and together we are blessed with four children – Faith, Sam, Luke, and Hope.
